Online marketing for dentists: what works, and in which order
Most new patients choose on three things: what Google or ChatGPT names first, what the reviews say, and whether they can reach you easily. Only then does anyone look at your website. Below is what each channel actually does, and at the end the order we work in ourselves.

The channels, honestly weighed
- Google Business Profile
- The profile decides whether you appear for “dentist near me”. Category, treatments, opening hours, photos and the questions-and-answers weigh more than most people think. This is almost always the fastest work with the biggest effect.
- Reviews
- Count, average and recency all count. One fixed request to satisfied patients at the desk or in the aftercare email does more than a campaign. Buying or filtering reviews is not something you should do.
- Details and care directories
- Name, address and phone number have to match across Google, Apple, Bing and the care directories. Mismatches are the quietest cause of missed calls.
- Website
- One clear page per treatment, load time under two seconds, phone number above the fold and online registration that works on a phone. A new visual identity is rarely the problem.
- Advertising
- Google Ads can work for specific treatments with margin, such as implants or orthodontics. For general registrations it is often more expensive than getting your profile in order. Do not start advertising while the profile is still a mess.
- Visibility in ChatGPT and other language models
- Patients increasingly ask a language model for a dentist. Those answers come from your profile, your reviews, the care directories and the way your pages are formatted — rarely from your website alone. It can be measured; it cannot be guaranteed.
The order we keep to
- 1Measure first: what does ChatGPT answer today for “best dentist in [district]”, and what does your Google profile say?
- 2Rebuild the business profile: category, treatments, opening hours, description in Dutch and English, real photos.
- 3Align your details across Google, Apple, Bing and the care directories.
- 4Put a measurement number on the profile so you know how many calls come out of it.
- 5Ask for reviews on a fixed rhythm.
- 6Only then clean up the website and consider ads for one treatment.
We promise no top-three spot in Google Maps, no date on which ChatGPT names you and no number of new patients. Rankings and mentions are decided by third parties. What we deliver is the work above and the measurement around it. What this work has produced elsewhere.
The first step: the seven-day setup
We do the first four points on that list in seven days as one job: profile rebuilt, details aligned, technical work and measurement number arranged, SEO improvements on your existing website, plus a baseline measurement and a walkthrough with before-and-after screenshots. One amount of €497. If you then want us to keep measuring and to write four articles a month, that is €97 a month — cancel any month.
